Mineral based sunscreens like Z Blok with zinc oxide stay on the surface of the skin as opposed to chemical based sunscreens that get absorbed into the skin. Then the chemicals get absorbed into the bloodstream. It is unclear if these chemicals cause disease, but the FDA is concerned about it.
All Z Blok sunscreens use zinc oxide as an active ingredient. The .5 oz. stick also has titanium dioxide as an active ingredient.
