This license is designed for those working at yacht clubs, marinas, camps, and community waterfront centers as a launch driver, sailing instructor or camp counselor. This course covers safe boat operation, docking, anchoring, marlinspike seamanship (knots, coiling and heaving line), navigation rules & navigation aids, safety equipment, emergency procedures, rendering assistance, federal and state boating laws and a host of other areas. Course Format: Sixteen-hour course set over two days

  • Day One: 8 hour Classroom Instruction
  • CT DEEP (CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection) and NASBLA approved course on responsible boating. A 60-question test is administered at the end of the day.
  • Day Two: 8 hour Classroom Instruction
  • United States Power Boating Association approved course on Power Boating . A 50-question test is administered at the end of day 2.

Description

This two day 16 hour classroom instruction course includes all course materials. All testing is done at Landfall Marine Training Center., you do not test with the USCG. Upon successful completion of the two exams and 100% attendance you will receive a Connecticut Safe Boating Certificate and a Landfall Marine Training Center Certificate which along with your USCG completed application may be submitted to the USCG for your Limited OUPV or Limited Masters License. You will have up to 12 months from the date on your Landfall Marine Training Center Certificate to submit your completed USCG application. The United States Coast Guard and National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA ) have approved this course.

Course Materials: Two Text Books : Boat Connecticut- 'A Course On Responsible Boating' and US Powerboating's - 'Start Power Boating Right' along with a booklet of study questions will be sent to you 7 days prior to the course start date and should be studied prior to taking the class.

Payments & Policies

Marine Training Center Cancellation and Refund Policy:

Any student cancellation received by 5 days in advance of the start date of the course will receive a full refund. Any books or course materials purchased for a course can be returned for a store credit only.

Cancellations received less than 5 days in advance will not receive any refund.

Schedule change requests received less than 5 days in advance of the start of the course are subject to a 25% surcharge .

Students who arrive the day of the course who have not properly registered or have not properly prepared as required under the course requirements will be asked to leave and will not receive any refund.
