Description
When Bruce Kirby originally designed the Laser in 1969, he called it the “Weekender”. The first prototype was built as a last-minute entry for a 1970 regatta. Although Kirby and his associates finished rigging their “Weekender” only minutes before the race, it proceeded to tie for first place in its division. After some design refinements, the little boat was renamed the Laser and almost immediately won recognition by the International Yacht Racing Union and popular acclaimed around the world. In 1993, the International Laser Class Association accepted an invitation to participate in the 1996 Olympic Games. Classail model kits are authentically scaled to class specifications. High impact injection molded polymer parts are ready for painting and include a pre-cut dacron sail. These can be personalized with any sail number. Each kit includes running and standing rigging, a mounting base with an identification plaque, wall mount brackets and a poster that is suitable for framing. Photo illustrated, step by step assembly instructions are included. This model is great for free sailing in the swimming pool or pond or as a trophy gift.
