The Shakespeare Emergency VHF whip antenna is specifically suited for offshore racing and emergency communications, meeting the intent of many major offshore race safety requirements, including the Newport Bermuda Race and Marion Bermuda Race safety regulations. Current Bermuda race safety standards require vessels to carry a permanently installed 25-watt VHF radio with masthead antenna, along with a separate emergency VHF antenna equipped with enough coaxial cable to reach the deck. Most rules also specify a minimum antenna length of approximately 15 inches (381mm).

Designed for rapid deployment during rig failure or dismasting situations, this compact 19-inch base-loaded stainless steel whip antenna provides an immediate backup communications solution when the primary masthead antenna becomes unavailable. The included 15 feet of cable allows the antenna to be mounted outside the cabin or elevated onto a rail, pushpit, dodger frame, or other metal surface for improved line-of-sight range and clearer transmission performance.

Its broad magnetic mount base enables quick attachment to steel surfaces without tools or permanent installation, making it ideal for emergency use offshore where speed and simplicity matter.
