Description

The Boye Sheepsfoot has a straight edge and blunt tip and is mostly serrated. The Sheepsfoot design is especially for freeing lines in rough conditions common on boats at sea. This knife is easy to carry and deploy with either hand a from a pocket or, belt sheath, and can be closed and replaced with either hand. It will part virtually any line or any number of them safely. It can be used for hours on end and still cut effectively, as in freeing, fouled prop or line or net. The Titanium Marlinspike and Shackle Key:
The titanium marlinspike/shackle key is like a second blade, a dull one that can untie knots, small and large, like magic, or separate strands for splicing. It can be used as a pry bar. The swivel anchor is very strong and stops in the open position facing the direction to UNscrew shackle keys that are stuck closed. The flat spike feels good as part of the grip and balances the titanium clip on the other side of the handle.

Strong and sharp knife
So, I'm not given over to writing reviews, but in this case make the exception. In all candidness I did not buy this thru Landfall (altho I have many other items). I bought this directly from Boye - talking directly to the owner and designer. They actually have "seconds" occasionally, and I bought one of those, however I could not tell the difference (it's in the scrolling). These knives are super scary sharp, and their hallmark is that they cut for a long, long, time before getting even half blunt. I've used this in an emergency, and it was fail-safe. If I were to pick on one thing, the stainless loop at the end is not round but has an edge on it and it is hard to get cordage around it. I circumvented that by using thin spectra with a a spectra holding knot - it works fine and is stronger than a regular lanyard. I've never bought any other knife other than my trusty old 35 year SS knife, but I can vouch for this - extraordinary! If the price puts you off, then you have to trade off - personally I go with the tool that is not going to fail when you really need it...
