  • Marine Seminars by Landfall

You Are Legal, But Are You Safe?
    or
    Short-Handed Crew Emergencies

These seminars are designed for the cruising couple and addresses what happens and what needs to be done immediately when a sailor is hurt or lost overboard. It includes approximately 1 1/2 hours of lecture and demonstrations of the state of the art safety equipment and procedures. This course is modeled after the AOPA "Pinch Hitter Course" for private pilots' spouses and to prepare the less-experienced sailor.

Coastal Piloting for the Recreational Boater
This seminar is designed for groups of 3 - 25 and includes not only the basics of chart reading, the magnetic compass, course plotting, and tides and current navigation, but also a brief discussion of the navigation rules of the road, the proper use of your VHF radio and some short cuts to make piloting more fun, less stressful and easier. This course can be customized to your local area with adequate notice. Depending upon the size and background of your group this course may take 3 to 5 3-hour sessions with plenty of hands-on exercises.

Please contact Capt. Henry E. Marx via email at landfallnav@juno.com or telephone (203) 487-0775 ext. 13 to discuss any course requests.
