SUNY Maritime College and Landfall Navigation Offer On-the-Water, USCG-Approved Launch Tender Course
Throgs Neck, NY – March 2, 2010
SUNY Maritime College, in Throgs Neck, NY, is teaming up with Landfall in Stamford, CT to offer its 16-hour Launch Tender, hands-on, U.S. Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling Course for the United States Coast Guard Limited Master of Inspected Vessels/Limited Operator of Uninspected Vessel (OUPV) license.
A void previously unfilled in the Long Island Sound region, this program meets the requirements for a Launch Operator course providing hands-on, on-the-water training in small powerboats. The program is designed for sailing instructors, coaches, launch operators, camp counselors and yacht club employees, and teachers who are involved in sailing and powerboat instruction.

SUNY Maritime College’s Safe Powerboat Handling course is the only such program to combine the State Boating Safety Certificate, US Powerboating Safe Boating certification and the United States Coast Guard Limited Master/Limited OUPV License in a two-day course.

Classes will be held at Landfall’s Marine Training Center and on the water in SUNY Maritime College’s Waterfront, on Long Island Sound. Instructors will emphasize hands-on application of all skills.
The first weekend-long class will be held on Saturday and Sunday, March 13 and 14 from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Additional class schedules can be seen at .
