Jacklines Jacklines are usually lengths of nylon webbing that run from bow to stern, one on each side of the boat. They allow you to clip on your tether in the cockpit and move forward and aft without having to unclip. Our jacklines are custom built of 1" nylon webbing (6,000-lb. breaking strength), and exceed ORC specifications.
One end of the heavy snap hook (5,730-lb. breaking strength) is secured to a strong fitting at the bow. The other end is usually cleated at the stern, with all slack removed from the jacklines, both port and starboard. The flat webbing won't roll underfoot, and its blue color is easily visible against the deck at night. Allow at least four extra feet of webbing to secure it to the cleat.
