It is significantly smaller, lighter and more resistant to water, dust and shock than the original Iridium 9500 and is ideal for industrial or rugged conditions, yet appealing to the traveling professional.

OCENS WeatherNet is a system designed to optimize the download of weather products via wireless connections. It offers over 5,000 continuously-updated weather products — text, images, charts, buoy data, radar, GRIB files, and many more — that can be easily and efficiently downloaded on demand. Simply drag the weather products you want to download and push a button. WeatherNet immediately connects to the server via a wireless connection (sat phone or HF/Pactor Radio) and downloads the requested data. After the download WeatherNet can automatically display the new weather data with OCENS WeatherStation or SeaStation software, or other viewers. There is no service fee — you pay only for the products you download. A sea state chart of the North Atlantic, for instance, costs 25˘. A satellite image of the Atlantic basin, 50˘. Because of the highly-compressed nature of the data, the savings in air time usually more than pays for the data, and the convenience and speed are unbeatable!

To connect your Iridium phone to your computer you will need this adaptor. It will provide you with a serial (RS232) connection on the phone to connect a cable (#EIUSB) to transmit and receive data.
